I have come to the conclusion that my 76 Vette's fuel pump is dead, so I went to the auto store and they sold me the "correct" one for my car, which looks right, but on getting it home, I notice that there is only one inlet and one outlet, where as the original on the car has two in and one out. Have I been sold the wrong thing, or is there a mod that I need to do to use this one?
The pump should have a return line (the smaller of the two) I would return it and if they tell you that's the only one they show try elsewhere. I bought mine for my 71 (with return line) at NAPA.
not all fuel pumps are the same just as Corvettes are not the same.....good thing it was not a internet transaction...freight and possible different prices might apply.....some one didn't ask or supply the correct questions or answers as a result the wrong pump was purchased......take it back and exchanged it

The rubber lines between the tank lines and the fuel pump should be molded, if you use standard auto store hose it can kink and block fuel to the pump.
One question that I was asked when I bought this pump, was if the thread to the carb was (3/8 or 5/16 I think were the two options). I didn't know, so I actually bought both, so that I could return the incorrect one. I have scoured the internet trying to find out what the thread is and I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know?
I know the fuel line is 3/8th and the return line is 1/4th I am not sure about tread size. There should be a 90 degree brass fitting on your original pump you will need that fitting on your new pump. See which pump it fits.

Actually he did say the fuel line, I must have presumed he was talking about the thread. I have never done anything mechanical like this before, but I want to start learning, so I really appreciate all the advice and support.
I am not trying to add to your list but I would replace the two rubber fuel lines that go from the pump to the hard lines on the frame. The 3/8th line is a "S" shape to prevent it from kinking. They can be bought from several supporting vendors.
The "out" fitting is a 3/8 inverted flare. Some cars had a 90* fitting in the pump that had both a male that went into the pump and a female the line to the carb went into.
