Default Door shell question?

I have noticed that on 80-82 door shells right above the latch screws (3) there is one screw by itself. What is that for? Mine is missing on both doors???

A pic would help, but I have a hunch your are referencing one of the screws which holds the black plastic rain shield covering the door latch. There's one in each door.

Sounds like the door lock shield... The shields first showed up I believe in 1969 and were put in place to keep people from reaching the door latch. (a pick or any other object to prevent theft).

There currently is no reproduction of the shields. I've taken pictures of the various designs over the years.. and I have some used here somewhere... I'll have to check and see if they are still floating around the shop.
