Default C3 Intro

Hello, my name is Lenny and I from NW NJ. I'm doing my intro here in the C3 section instead of the regular intro section because, A: my Corvette focus is/will be C3s and B: not many people read the intro section. Im 53 and have been involved in cars since 16. I do not own a C3 at this time but am starting to shop. About 10-12 years ago I had an '81 navy/navy 4 speed, so this will not be my first Vette. I have other toys, a 69 Pontiac Custom S with GTO rubber bumper, this car was a total project with me welding on quarters and painting the car finished in 2001 and still a nice cruse night car but not perfect. I'm working on a 56 Chevy Sedan Delivery street gasser, with a straight axle, tilt nose, rollbar, cheeter slicks, ect.

but this is a little ways off yet, but the plan is to get it on the road as soon as possible and work on it as I go. Also a couple of bikes, '03 Kawasaki ZRX 1200, and "78 KZ 1000 that I bought new.

So, as far as buying a Vette, I have enough projects so any Vette I buy has to be done, or not really need anything major to drive and enjoy. The backstory on the decision to buy a higher end collector car comes from the passing of my Father in March of 2011 and then my Mother in November of 2011. My brother and I were left with their house and some accounts. We have been working on the house since early 2012 and hope to be on the market by this weekend. It's been a tough road with work and our own house's and lives to maintain but it should pay off. My parents and both my brother and myself are just average Joe's (my brother's name IS Joe) so I would never have such an opportunity it buy something like this. My parents always tried to give us what they could, almost to the point of too much so I view this as their last gift, and they would by happy if we were happy.

So, I'm looking for a 68-70 roadster, HAS to be stick, and something on the little special side, big block, maybe LT1 but the dream car at this point is a 69 427-435 sidepipe four speed, any color, 2 top would be nice.
So I will be asking questions, and will try to help others if I can.
I'm not looking for the cheepest car out there I will pay the "right" price for the right car but like anyone else I don't want to get burned.
Thanks for the time, Lenny

Welcome! You've come to the right place for info on these cars. Some very knowledgeable people here - they have helped me more then I would have ever expected.

Have fun looking - that's a fun thing to do!

It sounds like you are looking for the exact car that i was looking for for many years. It takes time to find just the right car. There are some ups and downs during the search but you will find the right one if you take your time. It took me several years but just found a 71 LS5 that i fell in love with and can't be happier..

Good luck on your search..

Welcome!

Sounds like you've got a good plan; settle in, start searching, and be ready to pounce when the right one appears.

There are a number of cars out there that will meet your description, but you'll probably end up paying good money for the right one. Don't worry; the ones that are done right will be more expensive up-front, but cost you less in time.
