I'm new here and to the C3 corvette world. I did own a '67 year ago. In any case I have a '76 coupe and the window relay went bad so I had to remove the console only to find it was a mess. Cracked and split in so many way I decided to order a new one. I looks exactly like the one I took out but I can't seem to get it back in right. No matter how I work it there is a significant gap under the radio and I can seem to get the console to move forward enough to match the side front holes.
Is there a trick I'm missing or something I'm not seeing that needs to be done? I finally gave up tonight about 11 and will try again tomorrow when I get home. Any help would be appreciated!!
Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? I have a hunch you are not lining up the two studs at the bottom of the center cluster with the corresponding slots in the console.

Someone else had this same problem not long ago with a reproduction console. Willcox had a solution of some sort not sure what it was perhaps he will jump in here and offer help. If not I will see if I can fine the thread.

Welcome to the club of trying to get the shifter console and bezel panel to line up. I couldn't after days of trying. I eventially took the radio out, made a delete panel and put my Voltmeter and warning lights ( I have an Autometer Speedo and Tach which doesn't have provision for these):
I finally said screw it and took the 2 threaded studs from the bezel panel off, got the shifter console in place and left the sides of the bezel upolustry overlap the shifter console "just a bit." I just couldn't deal with it any longer. I've come to the conclusion that these things weren't meant to be taken apart.
Finally got the console to go in. Not as perfect as I'd like it but acceptable. Not exactly great fitment on many of these parts. I got the studs to do in the receiving slots on the console after I put the nuts on them first and only turned the nuts a couple turns. Problem is I cannot get to the nuts with anything i own - and I have a lot of tools - to tighten them any more. In any case, it is all back in and operational.
Now if I can just figure out a way to keep the lid on the console armrest that came with the '76 I'd be much happier!!!
