Cheers for that,

I have been told also that the manifolds for that year might be
hard to find, that's why headers were put on the vehicle in 72.

cheers kenb

Some dealers that were into racing would install about anything that you wanted on your new car. But, most of that stuff was not approved by GM, so you were on you own with the warranty issues.

No 'dealer installed' stuff is acceptable to NCRS....not even the right side mirror nor the luggage rack.

71v., Can I suggest, that rather then injecting YOUR opinions toward other CORVETTE organizations, why don't you let other make their own formed opinions. Personally, I'm sick of reading your stabs.
Oh, MW you're OK in my book!

(KB, excuse the interuption not meant to hijack)

Thanks Warbonet,

Just a bit of info for you guys and ladies if they are reading,
Im down here in aussie land and we imported a 72 warbonnet yellow
corvette. We have only had the car for 2 months and had to change a few minor things to met our road regulations. The reason for the questions is we will be leaving the car as original as possible because we love it just the way it is.

cheers for your replies kenb.

War Bonnet...

That option list is what was available from the factory. The dealers had lots of other 'options' that were approved by GM for installation on Corvettes.

As in another thread it seems a wording difference between factory "Option" vs. dealer "Accessory" no? I searched quickly for the dealer accessory list but was unable to come up with it on line. Perhaps you can find it for the OP?

Headers were not available either way.

No, not as a 'GM-approved' accessory/option. But, you could get them from some dealers.

Headers were never a factory option. You might have a pair reported to be dealer installed, buy they would not be original or GM.

Hi Warbonnet,

Down here in our state south aust, We have to change headlights, seatbelts, put a RH mirror on, make sure wipers/washers work and everything factory standard. Our car has headers on it and its aloud if documentation is supplied or factory parts are not available anymore. To our knowledge our car is basic 1972 350 wby corvette with e,windows blk interior, holley carb, air/cond. It came from simi valley CA. Picture supplied hope it works.

Cheers kenb.

Stock manifolds, either originals or reproductions are very easy to come by as is the rest of the exhaust system.

Here's two pages of the 71 Chevrolet Accessories Booklet I don't have the one for 72, but we could assUme they would be pretty close to the same.

Take notice to the "carrier rear deck lid",$....

ahhh...to be back in the day when you could talk to someone. Go over a long list of factory options, and a long list of dealer options, and get what you want on a car at the dealership.

Now it's just "here's what we got...do you want it, well, do you...lets sign some paperwork, com'on, lets go to my office....no we don't have red but orange is close to red...wow...you've got good credit, how bout this one...yea I know it's a truck and your looking for a sedan, but it's more expensive and I make a better commission on it, besides , you might want to haul something some day. Lets put something down on it, I can't hold it if you don't, whatdaya say, let me get the manager
