I've started work on my T-Tops. I'm about to order new weather-stripping, but I'm concerned that my car's tops don't actually seem to fit at all. Can anyone confirm that the different year's t-tops are actually sized different, and if so, any advice on how I can confirm whether mine are the correct year or not?
They have this really wide gap in the middle that doesn't seem quite right... and the gap gets wider toward the rear of the car. Hopefully these pics show it a bit:
Hi BD,
From your pictures it looks like the roof panels need to have their attachment points, (4 on each panel), adjusted. This will allow the gap down the center to be even, and also the gap between the rear of each panel and the fiberglass halo to be the same for both panels.
There's been a thread in the last week or so dealing with this procedure. Perhaps you'll want to look for it.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
T-tops are the same size; yours are not too bad but may need a tweak. The center gap needs to be as even as you can get it.
The 68-77 tops have two latches and use a metal triangle on the halo panel for rear corner attachment.
78-82 tops use one latch at the front and have a bullet type receiver on the halo panel for rear corner attachment.
Ok, so that means my 76 came with 78+ tops and all the hardware at the back installed for the pin. They were beat to snot so I got a pair of used ones with 2 latches and they fit worse.
Not saying I'm worked up over it since I only use them in a weather emergency but I do find it odd.
