Default which front wheel bearings for c3

I would like to change the front wheel bearing on my 71 and my 82. I was wondering if someone can recommend a good manufacturer and supplier?

I like to use Timken bearings and they are sold at www.Rockauto.com

There are other places but on this brand Rock Auto has best price. This is a personal opinion.

You can buy bearings from the local parts store using their store brands and they will last a really long time and I have never had a store brand fail before I needed to replace the brakes or rotors again. Using the right grease is important. Using a High temp grease will keep bearings lubricated. Now if this car is driven yearly the grease will not dry out or harden for years. If the cars sit for long periods of time I would be more worried about cheap grease drying out then causing the bearings to fail.

Probably opening a can of worms but buy the expensive wheel bearing grease. The bearings only last as long as the grease you use. Buying the Red Wheel Bearing Grease seems to last longer than the black grease and in my experience does not dry out or cake over the years. Manufacture really does not matter because most are formulated the same.

Rock Auto is not a forum sponsor, last I knew.

Timken is the bearing that has the quality reputation. The original bearings were sold in AC Delco packaging, although the actual manufacturer was Timken USA. The Timken bearings sold today may not be made in the USA.

The Timken's I got from Autozone for my front wheels were made in Poland, the seals were made in Taiwan. That was about four years ago. With the new world economy, and corporations always looking to maximize profits, no telling where they are made now. Maybe back in the USA.

Check the box, or look on the bearing itself, to see where they were manufactured if that matters to you.
