Why did this get moved to C-3 instead of Off Topic? Looks like a parrot to me.

As for the BB gun, I assume you're joking. Crybaby juvie creep would tell Mom & Dad, and you'd be arrested for assault. Or you'd get sued for cubic dollars AND your Vette.

If they can prove it. But ok..... to be safe.... leave some plastic bottles around your car. You see them getting close to your car, shoot at the bottles instead. They will get the point.

I agree. And then to add, as others have said, you need to get a camera on the car, or atleast put up motion sensor lights where the car is so they come on when somebody is around. Unless you have children, tell your wife she can be replaced with a newer model.

Oh, come on. The day you get a new Corvette kids egg it, and then family members cover it in chocolate sauce? Where do you live? Even people at the Hayseed Mobile Estates aren't that nasty. This is either pure BS or you have issues far more serious than a car. Be careful, next time you walk outdoors there might be bologna stuck all over the car and potatoes up your tailpipe.

Enjoy your car and show your family and neighbors how you take care of it by washing, waxing and driving it sensibly.

Include your wife in cruises and let her see the smiles from pedestrians and waves from fellow Corvette owners. Include her in your reasoning of having always had this dream of owning a Corvette.

Be friendly towards the street kids, wave to them and smile. Answer questions politely when they ask about the car.

If no one reciprocates in kind, then you have other issues and looking in the mirror might shed some light.

Happy driving, enjoy your toy that you've been waiting for so long.

If it is true that this has happened, has the OP contacted the authorities to make a police report?

Or at least park it in the garage at night at the very least?

Glad that the OP finally got his new-to-him toy. I know there are folks who think that all classic American muscle cars should be crushed but screw them. Their politics wouldn't match mine anyway. Frankly, there are jerks in every level of society, including Corvettes but we try to police ourselves for the good of the cause.

I made sure to have a secured garage for mine to live in before I brought it home. Even the insurance policy that I bought for it stipulates that the car is stored in a locked garage when home and that keeps it protected from most bozos with a destructive agenda.

It's a shame for whatever the reasons are, if the OP's car is being damaged. I hope that a workable solution can be made to keep his local activity more civil. Good luck.

79 l-82,

What michaelinmech wrote, above, never entered my head on it's own. But once it did, I must admit, also respectfully, that it stuck, to a degree.

But I want to believe that you believe that every word you wrote is the truth. And maybe we can then figure out why this is happening. Yet I need more detail, to do so.

For example, how, exactly, (and how often) have the "out-law in-laws" expressed their hatred of your 'Vette? If you shared the particulars, re: opinions expressed, etc..., I think you would find more support here, even than the good amount you have so far.

And in that same spirit, (and feel free to say it's none of my business) I'd like you to expand on the following:

Because what you wrote is so cryptic, re: your wife's attitude, I can't make heads nor tails of it. Perhaps she feels it's money better spent elsewhere?

Have you considered the (dark) possibility that your wife is fomenting some or all of this hatred/commotion, to get you to sell, for reasons of her own that you're not aware of?

I'm not sayin' "sleep with one eye open" but without hearing her perspective, it's all just guesswork, from our end.

DO you have an available garage?

And just for a little levity, I have to say I agree with scrappy76:
