Default 68 dome light

Hi. I have a 68 427/435 Coupe, and during my restoration I found that the lamp socket in the driver side rear dome light bezel is missing. New ones are not available for this bezel. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can get one? Checked ebay, etc, already. Thanks!

Welcome to the wonderful world of the 68 Vette( I have two of them)

Yes...the rear sail panel lights were 68 only.

Is there anything in the panel? or just a hole. The light is just a long bulb that looks like a big glass fuse, so there's not really a socket, just two "clips" (again...like a glass fuse holder).

If there is nothing at all, it might be tough to find one, but not impossible. If there is at least a backing plate there, you might be able to source the clips from another lighting application and solder them on to the wires.

I'll check a couple places and see if I can come up with anything.
Us 68 guys have to stick together cause most of these little parts can make you

It looks like the 74 to 82 used the same "fuse" style bulb for their courtesy lights. You might be able to canablize that assembly for the wiring needed.

Yes Mel, 68 coupes have a nice interior light in each rear sail panel. Convertibles had one wimpy light on one side of the folding top support. 68's are the only C-3's with all four red tail lights. GM cheapened the car a little in 69, but made some other good changes, like making the steering wheel an inch smaller in diameter. Lou.

I have some of these.
Can you send a photo or two so I can see what all is missing?

The wiring harness extension for 68 coupes is available new from Lectric Limited, and other venders, if you just need the bulb clips. Lou.

Loup is right and here is a picture of how it comes. If 60 has the housings you'd be all set.

I have a call into the guy doing my resto. I think everything is there but one of the bulb clips. If that's the case then this harness would seem to do the trick. Thank you all for your help!
