The bad news is..........it lasted only three (3) hours!
Should I gulp some coffee and go into the garage to button up the rear suspension..............or............
I KNOW!
RVZIO will be waking up in another 30 minutes in Virginia....
He'll know what to do!
(In the meantime.....I'm going to the garage )
That's right DG, how'd you know. Now I'am in big trouble. When I can't sleep I will turn on the garage heat and go to work. Not sure if the neighbors will appreciate it but hey I don't give a d---.
By the way you are doing a nice job on the rear suspension. Glad that oil pan job is off the list. More coffee please. Now carry on!

It's so nice to be able to walk in the garage without slipping down from oil puddles!
Now.....about that rear suspension.....I just finished reassembling everything.
The spring leaf mod works great.........TOO GREAT!
The tire-to-fender-lip gap went from 2 inches to 3&3/4 inches....ooops!
That notched leaf above the new main leaf REALLY supports everything!
I'll drive the car after while to get the spring-pack to settle...it will probably settle a little more over the next week also.
Annnnnnnd another thing.....having never driven a Vette before, I noticed how the rear of the car squatted down a lot when accelerating hard....probably 5-6 inches....and the nose came UP equally. (Not the case on my '69 Camaro----the rear squatted about an inch/the nose came up about 5 inches.
Anyhow........I'm interested in seeing if the leaf mod helps that problem out.

EDIT: BUT FIRST........the exhaust pipes are black/carb is too rich at idle and cruise/edelbrock carbwith metering rods has .100" primary jets (Holley carb in '34 street truck has .068 primary jets but no metering rods).
Maybe I can get away with .090" or .095" primary jets!
I'll get a pair tomorrow and install them.

Good news...........I installed a pair of .080" primary jets in the edelbrock carb...
The engine started great but would run only about 5 seconds.....
Then......I installed a pair of .085" jests.....the engine started and idled great but bogged under moderate acceleration.
THEN.....I installed .090" jets......and the engine does everything it's supposed to do!
The exhaust sound is a bit crisper also...
test drive tomorrow since it rained most of the day......
Annnnd maybe troubleshoot that starter!
It runs like a champ now.......no more blubbering exhaust note when accelerating or decelerating......starts quickly! I'll check the starter when I get finished having fun.
yes...they (Harley chrome glass pack mufflers) look nasty mounted under the differential.....and the reverberation will rattle your teeth because there is no tire tub to prevent the sound from going up into the cargo area!
I have decided to extend the exhaust pipes so that the mufflers will exit at the rear of the bumper.....hopefully I can post pics and sound tomorrow night.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
