My 1970 hood is too close on the passenger front corner. Was binding driver side hinge end. After corvette shop finished adjusting it now binds passenger latch end. Ugh!
Thanks Easy Mike. I started to this morning but honestly, I couldn't make myself do it. If you call yourself a corvette specialist and can't get that right, I don't want you touching it again. Maybe take to a european shop!
I had to make adjustments after I put the hood back on after radiator removal. Snug the bolts but make sure there is still room to move the hood if you have to, close the hood but dont let it lock, then move the hood around until you like the spacing. Then veeeery carefully and slowly open the hood back up as to not lose the adjustment and tighten the bolts.
I use paint sticks with the bolts barely snug to move if necessary and then carefully tighten them.....the wooden paint sticks make for a perfect gap or seam...
Everybody has their own ideas. This is what has worked for me.
Make sure your hood is clean, no dust, in case you have to push it with your hands. With the hood on somewhat close, so I know I can close it and not scrape, I do close and latch it. Then I get down at the front and reach up through the large holes just in front of the chin spoiler and with a wrench I loosen the 3 bolts that attach the hinge to the hood on each side. Now you can see all of the gaps and the hood is free. Move the hood to get it where you want it either by pushing on your hood bulge or use a tapered tool, like a pry bar, wrapped in a towel and just slowly position it where you want it by using your hands or the covered tool in the gaps. Once you're happy with the position, tighten up the 6 hinge bolts slowly and evenly and you have it locked in.
