The AIM on page j175 states to put the end of the coil .38 from the stop. This is shown on the top only. It doesn't mention the bottom?
The problem lies in the fact that my Oem springs are both clocked close to each other. Meaning they fit in the top pocket as well in the bottom pocket. My moogs are not clocked the same way? I would need to cut off approx 2" lineal along one end to clock them correctly. Is this standard practice? Is something wrong with my moogs?
The AIM shows the top clocked. It doesn't mention the bottom. Unless I just can't find it?
You know there is a curved recessed space molded nicely on both the top and bottom for the spring to fit one way. Problem is my springs are not clocked the same way the oem's are hence they won't fit nicely into the top and bottom groves at the same time.
Surely someone else has seen this problem? Should I cut it? Or let one side go ***** nilly?
I have the VB&P 550# springs in my car. I aligned them according to the AIM (top edge ~1/2 covering the inspection hole) and didn't look at the bottom alignment. The car sits even and I have noticed no problems with the front end other than my old steering box
The GM manuals were written with stock components in mind. The original springs most likely sit nicely in both the top and bottom control arm pockets. Aftermarket springs are not built the same as the originals.
