Default convert automatic frame to 4 speed

What has to be done to an automatic frame to install it in a 4 speed car. I now about the z bar bracket but what about cross members. thanks for any help

you have to buy the 4spd crossmember bracket, and Zip sells the ear to weld onto the automatic crossmember to hold the 4spd bracket

Your must also have the tapped hole in your block for mounting the clutch ball stud. Most blocks have the hole, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

good point....as it may hurt if the block didn't have the provision

you can install a hydraulic clutch and not have to worry about the Z bar stuff, like I did

I made the switch and if I had to do it again, I would go with hydraulic.

Depends on the year. the Z bar Bracket on an 80 and 81 were bolted to the frame not welded. When I converted my 81 from auto to 4 speed the holes were all ready in the frame. I case they drilled the holes on all the frames regardless.

Interesting point about the hydraulic clutch. I bet it's a lot easier to push in then the stock one.
