Great looking work! Really nice on the inside! Got pic of your sandblaster?
Thanks Andy - I appreciate it.
I bought a Speed Blast Gravity Feed Blaster and its accessories. I have not tried them yet. If only I could find them in my rather messy garage. It's time for a serious cleanup again...
we were talking about coating... I think there was an issue with the ceramic coat, this guy used the same stuff and it came out black. Which means you can mix your way to grey
I started to remove the rear wheel wells' undercoating. Recommended tools: heat gun, scraper, scotch-brite pads, paint thinner, cleaning towels & Mr Clean arms. I had all but the last.
Steel brackets will be sandblasted. And some fiberglassing & VPA'ing is in my future.
Forget about the 'Hot Spot' accessory from post #201. It did not work well. I did all the birdcage blasting without it. The handheld blaster itself worked great. But what a mess afterwards.
After the sandblasting I cleaned up the birdcage with PPG Metal Cleaner DX579 and rinsed with rubbing alcohol. Then I used a body filler to fill the cracks and smooth out the transitions between the birdcage components. Next steps are conditioning with PPG DX520, masking and spraying with black epoxy paint - I'm waiting for higher temps to do that.

Thanks for taking a peek!
Nice RBrid, can't wait to see all of those areas primed and or painted.

Thanks ZIO - I'm hoping the weather will be OK for painting during the Memorial weekend.
Looking forward to seeing your new digs in Florida. Hope your pink tabletop is gonna make it there.

More progress with the undercoating removal. It's interesting how that black tar was hiding band aids. I'm pretty sure they were put on at the factory. You won't see anything again by the time I'm done.

RBrid, really nice work and attention to detail. A man after my own heart. It will be so rewarding once primed and painted. As for the pink table , I am sorry to say it went to the dumps last week. It's killing me waiting until closing 6/20. Can't wait to get started again.
