Too many people watching Wayne Carini chase dirty cars.

I went here for a free breakfast and hype about the washing of the Pace Car sold to a shiek for a rumored $55,000. All about the hype.

If I was to buy a Pace Car, I would buy this one if it came on the market again (you know it has been cared for):

In all fairness, I think I would have rather received it with the dirt still on it, simply because I'm pretty sure I'd do a better job with less damage than the hired hand on-site washing it. Somehow I picture someone washing it from the same bucket and same dirty water/towels/sponges from the prior dozen filthy cars he's just washed out of that collection.

LOL @ the Carini comment though! Patina FTW!

This is what makes it worth the extra coin:

The buyer will be the first "titled" owner, and will be able to say "I bought this 1978 Corvette Pace Car "brand new". Not many of us, if any of us can say that with the Corvette we have.

Now, does this make the car worth that much? not at all!! Just like every new car, once you leave the "lot" (or in this case field), your car automatically depreciates!

IMHO, I would take three or four totally restored chrome bumper Corvettes instead for the 80K, heck maybe a nice pair of C2s!
