I would like to register my 1970 BB Convertible and due to a lack of knowledge about that subject I am asking you guys if somebody can advice me what I have to take care of and whats the best insurence to choose.
My will be driven only at the weekend on nice sunny days locally and it sits in a garage.
I am original from Germany but now working in Fort Lauderdale Florida.
Many Thanks in Advance

You will get a lot of different opinions on this subject! I had Grundy insurance for a couple of years, but then I think the company was sold and my rates skyrocketed. I switched to Hagerty ins and have been pretty happy with them. I only used the road side service one time for a flatbed tow and it was a great experience.
I had a friend tell me last week that he had three of his older cars insured by State Farm for $92 a half for all three. They had to have historical plates. I don't know what coverage he got either.
I have Grundy and my rates have gone up every year, they were about the same cost as Hagerty back ~ 5 years ago. I have never filed a claim so, I can't really speak on that part. I will look around more upon renewal. I will look into NMC Insurance.
I chose Classic Car Ins. for mine. Put a value on the car, sent some pictures in and put a 6k mile per year limit. Runs me about 130/yr. Shop around and get quotes and check the coverages they offer and choose the best one you think works best for you.
I'm in Ontario and I use Hagerty for both my `76 Corvette and 1950 Ford pickup. Total for both is about $300 a year. I don't recall the exact numbers but I think the Vette is $170 and the truck is $130. Full coverage and the insured value for each vehicle is $15,000. 5700 miles per year limit. I don't know how they verify that though. They asked for the mileage when I signed up so they must do an average per year calc if/when they check it.
Classic car/truck insurance is less than half of "regular" car insurance. I have my '36 truck and '68 Corvette thru American Collector's with Full Replacement Value/Full Coverage/Roadside Assist....the annual premium for BOTH vehicles combined is less than half of my wife's SUV!
I had to provide copies of titles/photos of vehicles...received confirmation of coverage in 24 hours. I've been with them for 7 years.

Hagerty bought out Lant, whom I used for my first few years of ownership. Haven't really noticed any change in service. My rates are on par with Army's. I have heard good things about NCM, but they can't underwrite north of the border. If I was in Florida, I'd at least give them a call.

State Farm insures my two, due in part because they also insure my home and my daily driver and I have done business with them since I was 17 (through my Dad).
My agent does not require historical plates, but I am limited to pleasure only, 7500 or less miles per year.

Please check your coverages with SF. I insure several SF agents, and I can assure you that you are not protected the way you or most likely your agent thinks. Yes, you got an appraisal, but if you have a total loss they will depreciate the value of the vehicle. The legal language states that they will pay "up to" the stated value. Research Stated Value Insurance vs Agreed Value Insurance on google.
We don't require an appraisal, which costs more money. As long as we are within current market value we can agree on that value.
I'm Using Grundy, I have 3 Vehicles on my policy, 73 Corvette for 10K I have up it twice as its under construction, my 37 Dodge pickup for 30K , and a 93 Firebird formula for 8K, I should take the firebird to 10k but will likely do that on the next year.
Our renewal price this year was 350.00
Just checked your online quote, with the same levels I have with Grundy yours came back at 526.00
