So the answer is.... Setup A is the L46 stock motor, long tube headers, Pypes 2.5" X-pipe system with RacePro mufflers. 2.5" all throughout the tips. Interior tube ceramic coating all throughout. It was a little quieter than I was expecting, I think the X-pipe mellows everything down. Absolutely no drone no matter what RPMs. It does get louder during acceleration and its a nice deep tone.
So I tried setup B: same as above but no mufflers, in place of mufflers just 2.5" tubes going to the tips. At first the sound was just loud and not clean..... since then as can be heard in the additional video, it started sounding more.... "organized"? It is not too loud at idle, kind of sounds nice actually. During acceleration it gets nice and loud. Only drone is present at lower RPMs ~2k. No popping at deceleration. Video shows interior sound at highway speeds. I can have a normal conversation inside. Keep in mind I do have lizardskin on the undercarriage. Again...I think the X-pipe along with the interior tube coating keeps everything more quiet than if it wasnt there.
I'll run with no mufflers for now until it gets boring, then back to the RacePros.
They both sound good but the first one sounds like factory side pipes and the second sounds like Hooker super comp side pipes with max flow inserts. I still like the first one.
First one sounds like it has a lot of drone, and the second one is way too loud, so.... neither?
It might be the camera or the speakers but the first one actually has absolutely no drone. Its a little too quiet for my liking so I'm entertaining setup B
