Default Need Help ID'ing Muncie

Casting: 3925660
Date: P8E03
Serial Stamp: 28U161667

Can anyone tell me what this came out of. Not original to my early 69 this came from a hacked up 71 I used to have. The serial didn't match the 71 Corvette that it waas in. Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick,
P Muncie HD
8 Model Year, not Calendar Year
E May
03 Day of Month
Should be 1 more letter for close (B) or wide (A) ratio.

Alan

Thanks, I'll take a picture but Alan there is a mark that looks like a what I can only call a "lower case square" at the end of the date number.

What about that serial Number? Is that possibly from a Corvette or maybe another model from 1968?

My next question I guess would be how can I determine if it is a close or wide ratio other than the number. The number is not obscured by damage, it's simply seems incomplete except for the small square at the the end. Thanks a lot!, Rick

The A-B-C ratio code at the end of the "P" number didn't start until late Oct. 1968 for early 1969 model year Muncies...

28U161667 is the VIN of the car the trans started life in, a 1968 Firebird...

2=Pontiac
8=Model year
U=Lordstown

Hope this helps... Crash
