Cancer
I now need some really good guidance in an area that i am stepping into with no idea on how to tackle .
I have my 73 without its transmission in , i took it out to examine the clutch while i had the differential out for a rebuild . Ok not a big issue , was guided through the differential rebuild by the maestro Gary Ramedei and got through , but only with his amazing help .
Transmission , was less of a technical nightmare and all came out ok , now i have seen that all the bushings on the suspension and the body mounts are rotten so the intention is to replace all .
Big problem here is behind the kick plates there is the dreaded cancer , not really bad although it has eaten through some of the sections of the upright .
So guys what is the best method of fixing ? I can lift the body off the chassis , but am i able to repair these sections if i do this ? I think these lift with the bird cage and the body , so i dont think it can be got to properly to cut out and make new sections , or will i be able to ?
The threads i have read talk about splitting the front clip
i hope this is not my only option . I dont mind taking off the body if i really have to , should make it easier to put my transmission back in
but the thought of splitting the front off the body scares the C**P out of me .
I know you guys will come to my rescue John

Rust is the word i should have used to title the thread , it was not titled C to make reference or offend anyone at all .
Rust is the cancer of any vehicle , if fact any metal if the circumstances and conditions are conducive to its to its growth .
I am deeply sorry that anyone took exception to my selection of word as a description that has afflicted my car . It was not intended to offend .
Thank you to the guys here who have offered advice and assistance to the question i posted under the title , how do i deal with and rectify the problem i have with the oxidation process that is currently afflicting and eating its way through parts of my car like a proverbial C
Regards,
John

I was scared to click on this thread too.....
my wonderful/great son-in-law has C/Stage4....very heartbreaking situation...
hope you get rid of the rust.
And in fact anyone else who is reading this thread and is afflicted with this dreadful disease or knows someone who is . My apologies and sympathies .
I have been in the situation that you unfortunately find yourself in and its not a pleasant place to be at all , having lost my mom at 52 years old to it and then later my father at age 64 .
The title was not intended to scare or provide unhappy memories or problems existing in other peoples lives .
I hope the thread continues and provides me with the information for which it was originally intended , to help me sort out an issue with my car.
I sincerely hope all suffers of the C affliction are able to find the strength to beat this horrible affliction.
Best Regards,
John
