Default tach

I bought a 74 with a crate motor with electronic ignition. How cam I use a cable driven tach with the electronic distributor. Isn't their a threaded piece that you can buy that goes on the distributor?

You either need a tach drive distributor or have to change the tachometer to electric. If there is no hole in the distributor housing how are you going to attach anything to drive the tachometer?

Any chance you could check w/ previous owner if he kept the stock distributor? Otherwise tach drive HEI distributors are available (but expensive).

Like the guys mentioned, you'll need a distributor with the mechanical tach drive. Did the '74s ship with mechanical tachs? If not, you'd need one of those too and the cable to connect them together.

I have just put an HEI tach drive distributor in my 74. Bubba had put the oil pressure sender up on the block by the old HEI that was there, and plugged the hole in the block by the oil filter where it should go. So I bought a brass adapter from Corvette Central, a tach cable, and new distributor from these guys http://stores.ebay.com/White-Perform...p2047675.l2563 for $45.90. Very reasonable shipping to New Zealand as well. Came in it's own styrene case inside a cardboard box. No weights or springs for re-curving. Been in for about 3 weeks now. No problems so far.
