Been lurking awhile and getting much info here. Ty all.

Many of my concerns on this cf vette have been eased by you fol ks. Mine seems almost perfect so far.

Do have some questions tho.

1. Is 1300 rpm bout right for 70 mph?

2. Do only 2 tail lights, one each side work? Backup lights work.

3. Gas gauge only goes down to a bit less than halftank. Put in 18 gal then.

4. Steering seems twitchy. An 81 owner told me there is a fix for this, some sort of adjustment. This true?

Knew when we got this one it was not the power house of eairlier or later vettes. But it goes good enough for us. We already made an 800 mile weekend trip with itm
.

First question, probably so depending what gear you have. Mine is the optional 2.87 so mine's running about 1500-1600.
Yes only the two outside lights work, the insides are the backup and reflector.
My steering is wtitchy as well, don't know why??

Hope this has helped.

Congrats on the 82. they make great drivers. 1300 seems low at 70. Mine does 1600 or so. Your tail lights sound stock and normal. You can mod them to get all four but loose reverse lights. Your fuel float is likely hitting the side of the in tank liner. You can pull the sending unit and bend the arm to effectively shorten it. Happens to most of them. The steering is twitchy by nature, but the box might need adjusting, could be a bad rag joint or other loose components. Pictures of your car?

check your tire pressure .try changing tires .some tires are more of a problem then others .check for loose parts up front .pull sending unit out and see if the sending unit is binding any where.check connections .while the unit is out change the fuel pump to 85 or better .the best upgrade you can do is open up that cat .the fuel pump and cat are the two best upgrades for that car.
