Not looking to really start a brand argument but anybody have an opinion on these water pumps? These are the short style that I plan to use on my newly acquired 454. Any help is appreciated. Also looking for a pulley kit.

CORVETTES do not use the LONG pump whether its a BB or SB....you can buy the sane pump at any local parts store for about 1/2 the price and no core involved...merely exchange yours if necessary...no freight itherI
i have bought thousands of parts from summit racing, they are a really good quality part, and they back it with their warranty ,cant go wrong buying summit parts.

Since the WP in your first post is cast iron, perhaps you're only looking to replace a failed unit? Did you want to add bling (non-OEM associated pieces) "while you're at it" or are you interested in replacement parts only?
If replacing, select an iron WP with the correct dimensions and reuse the pulleys that are there. Many non-OEM pully kits employ a serpentine belt and require each driven component to have the compatible pulley.
Or if retaining the V-belts, many of the non-OEM pulleys are aluminum and should match the dimensions of the original.
Is this going to be a DD, weekend cruiser, or maybe some racing? Are you limited to a budget? Let us know because there are several options you can choose.

This will just be a weekend cruiser... Nothing special. The 454 I have was pulled from a truck so it has the long water pump and would need the pulleys and brackets also. As far as I know there is no kit for the vette swap. As you can tell from the pic a little bling would be nice but not necessary.

I am not aware of a kit, but the 454 big block was a factory option for the 1974 models. The 1974 assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows the factory installation of the complete big block package, has diagrams, lists the original GM part numbers, etc.

THIS.........
Mine is a sbc 350, I bought a new (not rebuilt) at AutoZone for ~$40. Works well.
The SB "corvette water pump" is approx. 1/8 inch longer than the short pump. Chevy sourced this pump from its trucks because it was designed for greater longevity and for its greater flow and low speed cooling. If you get into a parts catalog you will see that this started in the 60's and continued as smog equipment made cooling more difficult. Many truck pumps for this era will bolt into your Corvette without mods and don't carry the 'Corvette premium' price.
