The small floor jack sets on the ramp at an angle and lifts on the frame. One of those light aluminum "race" jacks from Harbor Freight.
Thanks, that was what I was thinking but also didn't think the lift would be wide enough for my floor jack. I never compared my floor jack to anything like what you have. I am also thinking of getting a Kwiklift so that's good to know.
I bought one on craigslist about three years ago. I have a one car garage with enough space on sides to work . It took a lot of room. I thought it was dangerous to drive my car on. Everytime I had to drive onto it I would sweat thinking I would fall off and always had to ask someone in the family to guide me on. Once the car was on it was the best and I did a lot of work with this. I felt that it was not safe and I listed it on craigslist and sold it. Just my opinion. Sorry to bash the product. I thought they went out of business?

I too have to ask for help when I drive the car onto the ramps but other than that it's rock solid. Perhaps someone else has come up with a solution?
They are still in business, I just purchased a 2nd center lift bridge from the. Very solid customer support.
When I had mine,I marked the floor for the uprights to be put back in the same spot every time and used the old tennis ball hanging on a string method. When it touched my windshield I knew I was in position and stopped. I have seen others use mirrors, but after a while you get hang of it.
I have a 70 convertible that groans when you jack it up. Always a question ,doors and hood open or closed during jacking? Bought the Quick Lift and now I always know exactly where the oil is coming from.Got very good at driving on without help. so good I tried to back it on. Didn't turn out so well.

Reason: didn't work out
Sorry is hear that. Did you damage anything? It is fantastic when it is up on the lift. I have an automatic so there is no fadding back but it was still hairy. I cant imagine with a stick not being able to react as fast and with someone near the front guiding you on that scares me. I do have to say I miss it somtimes when some work has to be done. I use the ramps now and it has been working out well. I heard the race ramps are great and easy to store.
My dad picked one up a year and a half ago or so, and it's great! Ironically, I just put my C3 up on it yesterday for winter storage so I can work on a few things underneath. I think my dad paid $500-600 off of CL for it, I forget which. It also came with sort of a lateral cross-plate use with a bottle jack to prop it up onto jack stands on to work on brakes, suspension, n' sich, to sort of answer your question, Vetteman1981. We haven't tried that feature out just yet.. [IMG][/IMG]
Been happy with mine. I bought it used about 3 or so years ago and it has been handy. I haven't used the cross bar yet, but I have completely removed the rear while on the lift:
This was right after I finally got (almost) everything back in. Notice this picture is outside... Only a few places has the powdercoat been damaged and I have a little rust. Nothing a grinder and POR15 can't solve. The lift is finally in the garage with the vette again:
There's some quirks to the lift that others have mentioned, but it's a lot better than jackstands.
I agree with you guys... I love my kwiklift.
Had it for years.
I saw where the new ones are 1299and that includes the jacking bridge.
That's less than I paid for mine many years ago.

There was a used one out here on CL for $800 that I passed on a few months ago. Just seemed like it was going to consume too much garage floor when not being used...or maybe I was just not sure it would be/do what I wanted.
Edit - just checked and there is another one listed for $850.... Still not sure if it is worth the money though.
Got my kwiklift 2 yrs ago, just love it. Wish I had one 6 yrs ago when I did extensive work on the vette.
Mirror up Front and Tennis Ball for Guides
I put some 2x10’s across the ramps when it’s in the laying down mode so it sits higher and have plenty of room to work on the rear if need be without using the pedestals..

I understand MMessa.....I'm doing my whole front end on the KwikLift but used 2 2x10's cut to fit and put my floor jack on it to lower the A arms......it worked well......beats lying on the friggin floor!
I have been considering one of these and after all priced out it has swayed me to strongly consider a Maxjax. It just seems for a little more the lift would be more handy
