Default Badging??

Would it be considered bad form to re-badge an L48 as a L82 if it has the year-correct L82 engine. Obviously the VIN and the badges won't be in synch but this isn't going to be a show car...besides...Badges? Badges!?! we don need no stinkin badges!

If you are doing it for yourself, because you want / like the L-82 badges, have at it. It's your car, have fun and build it how you want. IMO, the only time something like this is not OK, is if it's done to deceive someone etc.

Enjoy your car!

You could put Camaro badges on it if that's what you want.

Well its not so much that I "like" different badges, but since the only difference between the two models is the engine (please correct me if im wrong), I just think it would be a more accurate depiction of what the car really is. It just seems a shame to "advertise" it as an L48 when it has every element of a L82.

I like the look of the L-82 badges, have they ready to go, having just painted the car I am afraid to drill the holes.(lol) I;m doing it so it must be legal to do it(lol). Like they said, don't sell it as a L-82 engine, even though there is not much difference, especially in hp.

The majority of the people don't understand and know the difference between the two. I have L-48 badges on my 77. (Even after all the work I have done to the motor) People come up and always ask/talk about the car when I take it out, most say "wow" it has the L-48. LOL They are just talking like they know something. I don't say a word, just yes them to death. A corvette enthusiast would know right off the bat there were no L-48 badges. It's your car, do what you wish!

My best friend had L82 badges on his 77 L48. I was many years later after he sold it that he told me. All those years living a lie

If it has an L-82 in the car, the L-82 emblems would be the right way to go, IMO. If you were having the car judged at a national show, you would lose points for the non-factory engine and emblems.

If you're not.... who cares?

Okay! That's my favorite answer so far so that's what I'm going with!

I dont see any problem with putting a L82 badge on it, if the engine is a L82.

If you put a 454 in it, then why not put a 454 emblem on the hood. Thats whats under it. Thats the same reason people put the 502 on their hoods also.

So if its a L82 in there......put it on the hood.

I wouldn't "advertise" it as an L82 if I were selling it, especially since the VIN will quickly show you're misrepresenting it. As a buyer, I would immediately assume you were lying to me and wonder what else you might me misrepresenting.

I would advertise it as an L48 "upgraded" with an L82 engine. This would actually be called a "clone".

As for the badging,....put anything you'd like on it.

Btw,... There were more differences other than just the motor on the L82 package,...but as already stated,... Not significant.

Do a bit or surgery to the badges and have the world's only L28.
