You may or may not have seen my last post about this. Getting ready to get my car back out of storage shortly and tried to fire it up. It started ran poorly and died. Would not start again. Cranked but no fire.
Part II I was thinking when I put it away I may have stuffed a rag in the air bridge in the LS3 air intake. But no I would not have done that or would have remembered that. Not so fast there stupid! I had a little time this morning so I went over to the storage and pulled the hood off. Sure enough there is a micro fiber towel in there. Now it is pretty stuck. On the LS3 it has one big butterfly. Fortunatly it did not get sucked into the intake. It wrapped around the blade and just wedged it in there. Micro fiber does not flow much air I guess. I worked the towel out and it was whole. Got in primed the fuel and it fired immediatly.
So now I am good to go. I will bring it home next week if all goes well. The lift is in, minor hookups and the gargae is all wired and plumbed for air. Hopefully next week I will be back at it.
Yeah... been there and done that. Doesn't finding something simple just flame your innards once you realize what the root cause was?
I'm really glad to read that you had a great result to capturing the towel-rag in one piece too. That could've been way fugly if it had separated, down wind.
Anxious to see and read more progress now that THAT issue has been put behind you. Good luck, amigo.
About fifteen years ago I was at Portland International Raceway with a good friend of mine who was prepping his 356 Porsche for a vintage race. His mechanic was making some last minute adjustments to the engine and then shut the engine off, placed a small shop rag over the carb to keep the dust out and left the car. My friend unaware of this crank the engine and guess what....the rag disappeared.
I am glad it worked out for you!
That's called clean living that it was a no harm no foul outcome! Looking forward to seeing your resumed progress on the car. Yours is one of my favorites on the forum!

Thanks. It has been a lot of work and fun and I'm looking forward to getting back to it. I have been off for about 1.5 years. Once I get it back in the garage I have to see where I am at. I have forgotten where I was at and what I have and what needs to be done. I have to make a bunch of notes and make alist of everything again. Then the work will start back. It was good to hear it running today though. Open headers but it sounds good.
Way back in my dealer mechanic days, a guy bought a new pickup -- 6 cylinder 4 speed, pretty bare bones type truck. He was back in a couple of days complaining about the engine running rough. Turns out he was deaf and couldn't hear it, but was feeling the rough idle. Did compression check- good. Replaced ignition wires- good. rebuilt carb- good. Checked for vacuum leak- none. Ended up pulling the intake- found a neatly folded red shop towel laying in the intake runner for #1 cylinder. Guess someone at the factory had put it in there as it had never been apart since it the engine was assembled.
There will be a few pictures up shortly. The garage is still a little bit messy as I am getting organized and finishing up a few details. Stay tuned. I am out of town for a few days but will be back Sunday and hopefully bringing the car home next week. I will post up a few pictures of the lift
Here is one of just the supports and ramps installed in the messy garage.

nice one, do you have room to stack? (drive one under while you store the one on top) also nice epoxy floor

I should be able to get another V Etta underneath it. A taller car probably is going to bump. I will find out all the cleanses once I get it home. Thanks on the floor but honestly it is just a painted floor. This way I can touch up and the cost and install was extremely easy.
