Default Rear is coming out!

Pulling the differential and everything connected to it this weekend. How do I know if I need to replace the spring? I don't know how to add an image of the spring here, but I think I can upload one to my profile if you wouldn't mind taking a look and giving me some feedback. I added a few pic of my car too. Had the paint detailed this week, came out looking a sweet shade of 1976! The guy was covered in stage 1 flame orange when he left!

I'm getting ready to do the same on my 76. Looking at your pic I'd say that spring is done! Totally flat, should have an arch.I'm leaning towards a composite one vs steel. Good luck.

yep.....it's "missing" several inches of arch...unless you have 3 or 4 anvils in the storage area.

But... being a Rookie, I'm wondering why the "short shafts" have so much angle on them considering the spring assembly is flat?

I put a composite on mine 15 years ago, best thing I have done for the car. I also went thru the complete rear end, sending the a-arms off to be redone, stainless emergency brakes, all new bushings, rear end went thru, new u-joints, and of course repainted everything. I wish now that I would of dropped the gas tank, checked it out , new rubber hoses, etc. and looked for the build sheet.
