Default Loose wiring

I have a 1971 C-3 & was looking @ my spare tire cover this evening & saw (2) orange wires coming out of the wiring harness just hanging there. As far as I know everything on the Vette works, but these wires have to go to something! Please Help!

Orange are normally constant power (ie blower motors, cigarette lighter type things) with switched grd.
I don't recall anything on the rear-exterior harness that has an orange wire.
M

I stand corrected,

I am betting that your alarm does not work. The wires you described one orange the other more red go to the alarm switch that is in the center on the rear of the car. Looks like a door lock.

Good call, 72 they changed to OR and P wires for the switch. (Didn't think you could see them from down there though)

Hey Mooser,
If they are disconnected you can probably see them. When connected they would be a bit harder to see. I only know this because mine or disconnected on my 71.

I could only see mine where the carrier bucket is down. But they are connected so that makes a big difference

71 was the last year it was an option, 72 it became standard.

I'm not sure if the harnesses used were all the same or maybe if yours was late enough it got the 72 harness?

(I'm taking it your doesn't have the key switch in the middle of the rear then)

Reproduction harness list them both ways one with alarm or without. Is it possible that someone glassed the switch hole in? I considered doing that to mine when I was doing the body work prepping for paint.
