I rode in it in 72 or 73. It was kind of a burnt orange and the interior was tan. You must be mistaken. He claims it is a 70 1/2 whatever that means. Maybe because of the strike.
The 1970 was available with 454 cubic inch engines. There were three engines available for the 1970 Corvette:
350 ci 350 hp base engine (L46)
454 ci 390 (LS5)
350 ci 370 hp (LT1)
Holley and Rochester Quadrajet Carburators were installed on the 1970 Corvettes.
11 Exterior colors were available (Paint code in parenthesis):
Classic White (972)
Monza Red (974)
Marlboro Maroon (975)
Mulsanne Blue (976)
Bridgehamptone Blue (979)
Donnybrooke Green (982)
Daytona Yellow (984)
Cortez Silver (986)
Ontario Orange (991)
Laguna Gray (992)
Corvette Bronze (993)
This is what it looked like the last time I saw it in the early 70s.
I saw a base model Bridgehampton Blue with 3,000 miles.
It was at Carlisle and it had A/C. Asking $40k and it was like brand new.
It did not sell.
A base model survivor is collectible in mint shape. Otherwise it is an abused low mile corvette in need of a complete restoration.
My guess is less than $10k without having more info.
Guarantee it is not worth a fortune. Guaranteed!

That's what I figure. It is a car that has been sitting in a shed for 40 years deteriorating. It was mint when he quit driving it and put it away. It is not anymore.
There's many of us that would really appreciate seeing a picture of the car and the trim tag to correct a long-held belief then.
He claims it is a 70 1/2. Registered as a 70. That might have something to do with it. There was a strike and production was stopped for awhile. I will see if I can find out more about it. The guy is a little eccentric. If it is one of a handful of orange ones maybe it is worth a fortune. Or maybe it's a 71.

Supposedly there were issues with the painting process for Ontario Orange and the color was canceled. But, there are rumblings that a couple of early cars were painted.
