Default Vin question

OK....so I am new to the forum and generally use my phone for everything but I am unable to search so thought I would ask for some input here. My '81 was a St. Louis production model but I am curious how the production numbers ran. My last six are 400157. How far was this from the end of the St. Louis run?

Hi Scott,

You are actually at the very beginning. St. Louis cars started at 400001 and they were produced sequentially. So you are #157!

Hmmm....so is a low production number a good thing with these cars or doesn't really matter? Either way, thanks for the info!

I have #187 for 1975, so I guess we could start a "1st Day of Production Club"

Doesn't really matter too much in the big picture. If anything, refinements were made along the way during the year's production.

That was honestly my thinking behind it as well but never hurts to ask. I was actually told when I bought it that it was one of the last 100 produced there. Thought I would research that. Just love all the knowledge to be gained from the forums
