68's still remaining?
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I've got to admit I could sit and stare at that baby for hours.

You know the funny thing is , when originally looking to buy a C3, the amount of people that advised me against buying a 68 for the usual reasons :
1. 1 year only model.
2. hard and expensive year.
3. proto-type work arounds.
4. Door trims, Reverse lights, no head rests.
These were the exact things that attracted me to the 68 in the very end, I loved all those little Quirky reasons, and to be honest its a much more classic car to look at for those very reasons.
If I compare a 68 all red tail light rear end to a 69 .
The 68 wins hands down every day, classic sports car look.
This to me , is everything that I would look for in a classic car Investing scenario, unique -ness, limited time production, and as many bells and whistles as you can poke a stick at.
Its uncanny how over the years , at one time or another the very thing that people threw out , steered clear of , made unpopular ,in an array of items and possessions, not just cars, is then years later the very thing that we search out, and usually they are in short supply , due to our short sighted-ness to preserve.
I think this is the very point that 68/70Vette was making earlier.

I agree 100% - couldn't have said it better myself. BK3
Yes , in the movie they were referred to as an "Interceptor",Fictiously.
In the flesh , It is a 73 Ford Falcon GT , 351 Clevo, Toploader.
There were only ever 949 of these GT coupes ever made.
So now days there is a bit of a cult following behind them, a lot of them were raced and wrecked, and the remaining cars usually had a hard life at the hands of young "rev heads" pulling burn outs and wrapping them round street Poles , so god only knows how many are left out there today.
The body was specifically designed and built by Ford Australia to Win Bathurst , Our big touring car race at Mount Panorama.
The idea was to have the big bubbly back guards to get 12" rims and tires under the wheel arches to get traction.
It worked, They won.
As a youngster , I would watch the Bathurst Race intently, and fell in love with the Mean Monster Stance of the Coupe very early in life.
At the age of 17 , I found one some 5 hours drive from home, and after borrowing half the money from the bank, convinced Dad to drive me down to look at the car.
Original Owner , he was 73 back then, with 48 K on the clock.
Bought the car , and the rest is history, as they say.
Here we are ,28 years later, car is still my baby, original paint, motor never been apart, and still only 52K on the clock.
If its possible to have a "love affair" with are a car, I'm doin it.
But don't worry,, to keep it on topic with the forum.
The "68 Tri-power" is right up there with it.
Excellent summary!
That sums up why I bought the basket-case in the avatar to the left---One basket-case being reclaimed by another basket-case.
You need to copyright/frame/sell this......I want one signed by you.

What about this one , you may know it , or heard something similar.. somewhere ..?
......To buy the 68 ,, or not to buy the 68 ...... that is the question...?
.... the answer is ...... of cause you buy it .......you fool, you snooze you loose...
"68's" are what dreams are made of.
You recon some day it may be up there with some of Martin Luther Kings quotes,
heheh.To be honest I think,
" One basket-case being reclaimed by another basket-case"
Is fairly Poetic and Philosophical.

When I'm not driving my 74 Stingray, I drive an old 1988 EA Fairmont. But I've always loved those fastback GT's!
I really do like your 68 though. Some guy here in NZ is trying to sell an unrestored one for NZ$75k. He says "could this be the only 68 Tripower in NZ?" I pointed out that I'd seen another one here, and he sort of babbled a reply that I couldn't understand, but he still asks the question in his listing!
