Just wandering just how many 68 Corvette's are running today. That 45 years has probably taken a toll on the number of cars still running and have the original drivetrain. I know back in the late 60's I had a speed shop and had 13 cars that we made drag cars out of that were never returned to the street.

I just bought a "rescue" convertible about 2 months ago...the L88 has been replaced with a 1970 350C.I. The front and rear caps are '70s but will be replaced with '68 caps. Everything else is '68, but well used...LoL!
Is there a generally accepted percentage of cars for any givin year that are left??
Not an accurate one. Some people like to make up projected stats for things like this as well as totals for option combinations, etc, but they have zero basis in reality or statistical validity.
Guess the best source would be to see how many are registered or insured, but even then, that info won't tell you if they have original drivetrain. It is anyones guess...
Add me to the list of 68's on the road. You can probably get a good idea for how many 68's are on the road by checking the C3 Registry, but doubt it is a comprehensive database.
Low mileage 68 Convertible with ZZ4 and a TKO600. Interior is original with some repro parts (leather seat covers, carpets, seat belts and 68 shoulder belts!!). 69 side mounted exhausts. Composite fiber rear spring, 17 inch aluminum rally look alike wheels. Aluminum calipers. Body off "restoration." Actually a very stock like appearance...99% of the public wouldn't know it was not stock.
Reading the AIM, the shipping weight was 3050 lbs. I kinda think I'm at 2850 lbs. Getting rid of the spare tire and carrier was about 50 pounds.

And for almost 37 of those years, the toll was due to me.

It's a fact that 72.825 % of people who use stats just make them up.
