I had my stock 92 LT1 powered corvette dyno'd at 270hp and 330 lb ft of torque. It wasn't blazing fast but it was quick with great throttle response.
The earlier L98 powered C4 corvettes were about 250 hp and well over 300 lb ft of torque.
My car was quick enough to compete very closely with both C5 & C6 corvettes at a corvette club autocross. It outperformed several and was only 1.5 seconds slower around the track than a pro charged 2008 corvette that was driven by the owner, it was the fastest car out there. His son who had been taking driving lessons at bondurants school was able to run 3.5 seconds faster around the course than I. Who says your car has to push 500 hp to have fun. Not me.

Not to be a smarty,....but if you ever drove a Dodge Duster with the slant six and smushy rear springs you'd swear you were launching a Pro Stocker from a dead stop. If all you want is to feel that push in the seat,.....put some light springs in the rear.
Somehow I don't recall the family 74 duster that I drove back in 75,76 to have felt like a pro stock. It was kind of anemic, and my 73 Camaro that I bought after graduation was a step up. Nothing fancy with it, 2 bbl, 350, whopping 165 hp.

I'm not sure anybody said you have to push 500 HP to have fun, but I could have missed something. In any case, autocross is pretty unique since space limitations limit the size of the course. This makes the courses fairly tight and once you reach a certain power level tires are everything if you want to go fast. I'd much rather autocross my buddy's '04 Z06 with 405 HP than my '08 Z06 with 505 HP. Even at his power level you need sticky tires to really use that throttle. Your LT1 must have been a blast to autocross. These days one of the fastest cars for that is the Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S, which is light and sports a 2.0 with 200 HP. With those cars you can hammer the throttle and really use the power, and they handle verrry well.
