Default Cheap break in headers for a big block

Hi everyone, it's been awhile and the rebuild has been on ice or dead for at least a year, but I'm finally getting to the point where I assemble the engine and break it in. I've replaced the 350 with a 427 wearing a set of Doug Herbert aluminum heads. The final headers will be ceramic which I understand shouldn't be used during the break in because they should be broken in in short heat cycles instead of the 2k rpm 20 minute run that the motor needs. Anybody got an idea for a cheap set of break in headers? The break in will be done in the frame, so that is the only restriction I have. (I think)!

I can't recommend a specific name.....I took a chance and bought a set of "introductory no-name" headers off of EEEEbay for an SBC for $69.

They fit perfectly----well almost--I had to widen 3 of the bolt holes 1/16th" inch to the right on the driver's header to allow the bolts to screw in freely.

They also had flat thick flange-metal, which for the price, surprised me.

That's all I 'got.

I'll give it a look, $230 for a set of uncoated Hedman's are a little much for one time use, or maybe someone around here may have an old set sitting around that they may want to get rid of!

Call around to some junk yards. There's probably a set for a BB Chevy that is just laying around (and likely is pretty bad condition). Or, if they only have a "good" set, just ask them if you can RENT them for a day or two. They'll want a 'full' deposit (in case you don't return), but you'll get it back if you do return them.
