I didn't even realize this was a necro thread until the last page.
Anyway, just because the tranny was whining doesn't necessarily mean it was an M22. I just pulled an M20 that was whining like crazy. A mechanic friend of mine thought it was an M22 but it was just worn out. There was a reason you changed it. It was probably just a worn out M21. Was it making metal?
I guess it doesn't matter now but I'm just curious since I spent all day replacing mine with a tko500. What a job that was!

Original frame was junk - so we swapped everything over to a sound chassis, should be all back together to hit the road in a few months. Looking forward to driving it again, probably been 30 years.
