Default Question on hooker side pipes

So I bought some hooker sidepipes and headers on here awhile back for my 350. I decided to do a 454 swap so I need new headers but are the sidepipes the same for the 350 and 454 application? Thanks.

The Hooker sidepipes are all 4" diameter and swaged to slip over the header collector.

Sorry just saw your reply. Sold them to a local guy a few days ago. Now need to try and find some for the 454.

does hooker make sidepipe headers for an LS series motor or are you building your own cross pipes etc?

No Hooker does not sell ls Sidepipe headders,l could not find any for a LS swap that 1. I liked, 2. that were not over priced.

I bought a set of Hookers from Sumit online on (Ebay) with free shipping. I also bought a set of LS Flanges. I numbered all the tubes so I know where they came from. I cut the headers where they come under the frame then cut them off the flange. Mounted the Flange on the heads and taped the tubes into place. I then Tacked them into place at the flange, once that was done I tacked the tubes back together. I'm using a steroids Rack and installed that before modifying the headers and I did not want any surprise later.

The following picture is where I had them taped up. Remember you need to have them mounted into the frame so all your allingment is correct

what hooker headers did you buy sbc or bbc ones? I hear that many people go with bbc headers to modify due to port locations in comparison to ls series motors

nice work!

e
nice work!
I went with the SB ones... The reason was finding a flange to fit the large primaries of 2 1/8" for a LS engine.

Thanks

Why is it that Hooker doesn't sell their BB headers in stainless steel?
Steel headers..ceramic coated, thermal paint, chrome plated..will look like crap after a few years.

Would you like to send an email message to a header manufacturer that won't be answered? I have Hedman side pipe (SB) headers in my 68 with a ZZ4. The Hedman sidepipe headers (made to fit the factory 69 side exhaust mufflers) are steel and pretty reasonable..($179 ?).
Even Jet Coated they start rusting. Send an email message asking if these headers can be duplicated in stainless...seems like an easy job... no replies. Business must be good for custom header manufacturers.

STS baffles, not only sound the best but less restrictive than the others.
