Default Side pipe rust... prevention

Question from damp auld Ireland

Looking for suggestions for a winter care for the side pipes. Mine tend to rust a bit over the winter period.

Is there any kind of coating that can be applied for storage over the winter period?

It was suggested to me to spray a thin coat of WD40 on my alloy wheels to prevent them from rusting. Would this work with the side pipes?

thanks

Eoin

I coat the outside of my ceramic coated Hookers with trans fluid. Of course when time to fire it up, have to remove it using mineral spirts. It's left outside with a cover so also coat the chrome with pertoleum jelly.

Re-coat the headers from time to time.

WD-40 is really a solvent and disappears in a short time.

Hey

Thanks for the advice, car is garaged but the rust still form on the side pipes. I'll try the trans fluid on the pipe this winter.
