Default c3 inside hood light

So I want to replace the hood light inside of my engine compartment.

The old one was hanging inside of the engine so I didn't have anything to follow. It looks like it should be mounted just above the bracket on the drivers side of the hood. I see two holes one with some rubber one without.

How does this light get fastened to the hood?

Thanks in advance.

Someone may want to correct me but it looks like it is held in by wellnuts. These are cylindrical rubbers that fit in the hood hole that expand when you tighten a screw in them something like a drywall plastic plug. Looks like you are missing one of them.

wellnuts are the correct way to mount them. I was to use the white plastic license plate screw brackets from the "HELP" rack at my local parts store in place of the well nuts. With the light mounted, you'd never know I used incorrect fasteners.

You can also see the original wire retainer in the background of your pic. You can get (or order) Well-nuts at your local Fastenall store.

Make sure you put some body-color touch-up paint on the head of those Well-nuts before installing the light, so it stays 'original'.

That should be black out, not body color.
