Default Paint Codes??

Hi,
WOW!! ... Looong Suuunday researching paint and how I can get it to Australia ... unfortunately it is impossible to ship any paints out of America either by Air or Sea. My only option is to have it made up using paint codes and was wondering if anyone could lend a helping hand??? The car is a '72 Vette and I am looking to try and get all the codes that relate to my baby, Elkhart Green exterior 946 with Black Vinyl interior 400. Hope I'm not asking too much but any help would be awesome.

Cheers AL

Hi Al

Start here for paint codes

http://www.corvettepaintcodes.com

For your black interior SEM is available in Australia and will work fine, or you can get DuPont vinyl mixed up. Only an issue for non blacks interiors where it's not available in good matches. :-)

Thanks Mate,
Had a squiz at that one today. So you're saying for Elkhart Green in PPG just quote 2438 at Dulux and Bob's your Uncle or is there a little more to it. See I've Never done this before.
Cheers AL

What you need to do is take the list of codes for your year and colour to a reputable automotive paint supplier and they can mix it up for you.

It will all depend on what paint system they use as to which code will work for them.

Are you looking just for touch up paint or to re spray as for touch up it could be expensive.

The same shop should have spray cans of SEM in black for your interior parts.

Car was garaged for many years and has original paint which is in excellent condition for age but for the odd shopping trolley her and there, so looking for touch-up. Interior is likewise with missing screws, broken lugs and odd scratches. Just bringing her from 90% to 95% original factory.

Have not tried them.

If they are a vinyl paint/dye they should be fine but that code looks like gloss and I think you more likely need a satin finish.

Very clever HVP106 is the flat.(not satin)
So you see I could have enough to start a shop trying to find matching paint.
