By the way, I am not implying that this might not be a really nice car... just that midwinter is a bad time to be shopping the Northeast, and that the outside photo you were sent was not taken recently.
If the owner sent jpg files for the pictures, you may be able to right click to see the properties of the file. Depending on the camera, it may tell you the date and GPS location of the pictures.
Thanks, I did not even think of looking at the background. Makes sense now. I guess the only way to find out exactly what the car is would be to hire an expert. I am in South Florida so going there right now is not going to happen. He says that if I don't want to have somebody look at it then he will just hold it until spring because like you guys said, he also said it is a hard sell this time of the year.

My OPINION is to put this car on hold off status and keep looking for others.
9 is a little high, especially this time of year, you probably won't get to drive it until spring, and it is not even winter yet! I would push for round 7, let him set on it this winter, it won't make him any warmer looking at it all winter. You do know it gets expensive to have these cars worked on. IF you can do the work, it gets a little cheaper. Parts are never cheap, labor is getting expensive. Just my $003 worth.
Think global, but shop local. If you are serious about buying a Corvette before Easter I suspect you could look at 50 or more cars within a 2 hour drive from where you are now in that time frame. And I bet you a Coke you will like one of them enough to bring it home.

If you're in South Florida there's no way I would be considering a car that far away unless it was just a stellar deal from a forum member or friend. Sight unseen from a stranger from 1000 miles away? Uh, no. There are plenty of cars in the south that you could acquire much more easily (and probably for less money).
I see what you guys are saying. A little while back I posted a WTB ad and several people told me to expand my horizons and that there are tons all over the country and I would have more of a selection so thats what I did...maybe I just need to follow my gut and just stick to cars around my area that I personally can see. This is why I come to this forum for some helpful insight. I do appreciate all the responses so far.

I think expanding is a good idea, but for out of the area you're better off sticking with forum members, especially for your first car. It's too hard to buy your first car from far away from someone who may or may not be truthful.

Yes the potential of a legitimate deal increases considerably with other forum members even long distance deals.
If you find cars on other sites, fleabay, craigslist, autotrader, classic car dealers, consignment shops etc the potential of a misrepresented car increases.

Plenty of cars here in Florida.
This one will be around next spring, so at least hold off and go look at it and dive it back if wanted. I t looks good, but I would want to see a NY car up real close.
I think he's implying they're old because the outside picture of the car looks like it was taken in the middle of summer. Unless your October's in NY are full of green grass and green leaves on trees.
Ya it did have full green grass and leaves still on the trees.... All depends on what area of the state you are in .
I am not going to beat around the bush. Simply put I don't like how this is playing out. The buyer is already talking about pulling the trigger on his first corvette. He has not seen it nor has an independent inspection been made. Buyer is already talking price. This has the earmarks of an impulsive buy. Not that you need my blessing but I do not approve on how this is being handled. Seems way rushed to me. I did not consider a purchase on my "red dragon" until I had ALL the facts. I seen way too many nice cars in pics and nicely described cars that were actually pieces of s$!#. I don't like this at all. It is only my opinion.

Good luck.
My FULL quote is above. Don't know why you take pieces and turn it around and point it to me in such a way? Anyway, it is an opinion and he asked our thoughts. He has even contacted me OFF the forum and asked me several questions. I said in my post he does not need my blessing to make a purchase. He is the buyer, not me of course. If he didn't care what others thought he would have not presented the car on the forum.
