All,
I have a 1975 corvette and believe the rear bumper "Corvette" name is the wrong one. (could be 76) I bought the single letter that spell out "Corvette". Does anyone know how there put on?
I have an early '75 model year vert. I bought the car new and have not modified it at all. The word CORVETTE on the rear is individual letters that have pins on the back of each letter and fit into the mold on the rubber back bumper.
Hi 08 Roadster,
thank you for your responce. Yes, it does help. My bumper doesn't have the individual letters molded into the bumper. What I have is the word Corvette as one piece and stuck on the bumper. Do you know if the later models use a smooth bumber but still used the individual lettles?
John, '75 was the last year for individual letters. Starting in '76 they used the one-piece "corvette" emblem on the back. I believe starting in late '76 the bumper was completely smooth (i.e. no recess).
Hi LeMans Pete,
my bumper I believe is 1976 don't know why it was changed, doesn't look like any damage occured so I'm stumped. I just want to have the collect one. I did purchase the Paragon lettles kit #4140k and would like to know how they go on. Is a templet used for proper spacing?
John.......someone may have pulled a "switch-er-roo" on your car. On my project----someone replaced the original rear clip/bumper with a later model bumper.
I guess that they wanted to "modernize" the look of the body!

John,
The original bumper material does get very brittle and crack. A previous owner may have replaced the bumper for that exact reason.
There is no template to space the letters, to my knowledge, since the '75 bumper has the recess in the bumper that the letters fit into.
LeMans Pete,
Yes you could be right. What I noticed also, around the license plate the paint has chipped away and revealed my bumper could be a urethane replacement. I mean it's black color and my car is silver. All of the catalog's show a smooth urethane type bumper replacement for my year car.
Yes doorgunner,
you also could be right...........looks like I'll be looking for the right bumper. All of the catalogs show the urethane one are much more money than the right replacement ones..
A PO of mine put on an 80 bumper at some point. It didn't have letters when I got it.
I like the c5 letters and found a set. They are bigger than the c3 ones and look nice I think.
Sticky back letters were easy to apply.
If your bumper is not stock anyway you might consider them.
