I have used Lars through the forum and he did a great job on my Holley. I also just had my original Rochester completely re done by Cliff Ruggles. I haven't run the carb but it looks amazing and correct. He does have a wait list but to some people it's worth waiting. I had the time to wait so I went with Cliff for my Rochester.
Also if your Rochester needs to be recolored then Lars isn't able to do that.
A recolor or plating of the carb would be directly related to how accurate you want the car to display. I think if you're going for show points then it might be important, but if you're building a car to drive and enjoy it might not be needed as much.
How long of a wait and don't most 40yr old carbs need to be re colored or plated. Thxs
I wouldn't say that they all need to be re colored, it all depends on the past of the carb. The one I sent to Lars was in pretty good shape and was more of a drivers carb so I didn't want to spend the extra to recolor. I just wanted a great running carb and he did that.
My original carb I wanted to have it recolored and looked exactly like new. It needed to be show quality and that's what you pay for. My wait time was about 4 months or so. I only really started to push to have it rebuilt for about 2 months and he took care of it.
It all comes down to what your looking for and what you want to pay. Both are great options..
Hey thanks 63vette for the info. I have a dyno sheet I plan to give Lars plus the new cam info. I assume the carb will have to be re jetted for the new hp and torque Output the motor is stock outside same intake and exh manifolds.

Kendal, please note that Lars will not restore your carburetor to NCRS specifications. He will get you a perfectly running carburetor for sure.
If you are interested in a perfect restoration, check your Driveline, or better yet, head on over to the NCRS forum. I've seen high approval recommendations for Eric Jackson. I personally have no experience with Eric.
I did have Lars rebuild my L46 carburetor. Looks like crap (because that's how I sent it to him), but it couldn't have ran any better new.
Kendal, Looks like you are all set....
I rebuilt mine and in the process emailed Lars and talked to Cliff on the phone during my project. BTW I am also in CT.
From what they are saying Cliff will get it how you are asking you want the carb.
Lars will get it to run the way it should, making carbs pretty is NOT the business Lars is in.
Again thank you everyone Yes I am looking for a great running carb but need some prettyness and restoration in the rebuild process. Does anyone have experience with Eric Jackson. Thanks again
Making a carb pretty and correct takes a LOT of time and careful work. I did a "good effort" restoration of a carburetor and had an easy 10 hours into cleanup. Getting it perfect would take even longer, and require a lot more resources than just about any carb shop has!
A lot of the processes used to color & treat these carburetors no longer exist (due to health/pollution concerns), although there are some *pretty close* modern replacements.
