Manufacturer's tag. I see a GM part number and what is probably a date code (09/72). I can't recall who made the seat frames for GM.

Hi OB,
I believe the tag contains the part number for the the seat frame and spring assembly.
In addition, it has a Julian for the seat frame's construction.... 097 day of 72 (?) in your case.
The assembly is shown in the 71 AIM on UPC 1, Sheet J3, Seat Back and Frame ASM, Item #3.
Regards,
Alan.

The tags answer an often asked question too.... are the seats the same, left and right? Since the same part number is on each frame the seats are the same. It's during production when the hardware for the shoulder belt slot is installed that seats become either left or right.

Here are the tags from my mid-January built 71. 3480
