Yes I really have search, I know it hard to believe but it happen.
I'm wanting to remove my vac line fed head lights, but im leaning to the none pop. I would not mind going electric head lights but not sure which would be worthwhile for me.
So, let talk about headlights.
None pop up: recess or non recess
Pop up: what would be the easiest
Bulds: standard vs HID
I went the electric route and it was a pretty easy set up for myself. Car is still in restoration but headlights are done and work better than any vacuum set up. There are a couple of good postings on this forum that will handle all your questions. The Mazda Miata motors work great and are cheap at any junk yard or recycle center, whichever is politically correct for this website.

I seen it done and read about it. Im only concerned about if I get bad motors or I get the set up to find out I got missing piece or broken.
Soooo does that mean they didn't make a real corvette untill 1963 and then stopped making them in 2005?
Those 2005 and up are not real vettes. There to spaces, none popping up headlights, with a huge butt lol jk. Wonder if I can fit the 2005 headlights in to my vette.
I saw that post before or one like it. It that post that kept me from going none pop up. Im on the ropes because im unsure which would be best for short and long term.
Ultimately it's your choice. I've seen a few fixed recessed headlite conversions that look ok on the rubber front bumper cars. I think the chrome bumper cars look better using a pop up. My self I'm in the process of doing the electric conversion. I have most of the parts and only have $125 into it.
MA Fry ,yes before '63 they didn't know any better and in 2005 the government decided pedestrians would be injured more seriously when struck by the raised headlights.you all know i don't make stuff up.
I`m going with electric.... headlights AND wiper door. I already have the Miata motors, and I`m working on an aluminum bracket. For the wiper door, a 2004 Malibu seat motor is what I`ve seen used, so I got one of them too.
How strong would I need to make the brackets if I go with a electric motor? Im starting to lean to electric again. Wonder if ill still be ok with my 100amp alternator.
I found a piece of aluminum on ebay, then cut it into sections for several brackets when we made mine. Its 1/4 " thick but it don't have to be anywhere near that strong. Your current alternator is plenty. They are soooooo much less expensive than those 2 jackstands that they sell as a kit. Just for the record, a properly working stock vac system is hard to beat, but my 77 is just a toy, and this was a fun and inexpensive project that really works great.
While I agree that a properly functioning vacuum system does the job, the big vacuum lines and tank clutter up the engine bay. Just fine if you are doing factory restoration. But if you are trying to clean up the bay they have to go.
I attend a lot of car shows. The cluttered engine bay of our C3's really look crappy compared to other factory cars of the day. In fact I'm going to say the C 3 has the worst looking engine bay of any corvette made.

I agree with that. After deleting the wiring harnesses to my motor then remove the air pump and none needed vac lines removed fan to add a duel electric fan. When I finish building my 383 lr1 carb motor im going to build a race way to hide the wires better.

Aesthetics aside, if that was how it was built then that is what appeals to me at car shows. I am of the opinion that stripping things off or modernizing removes character. I do applaud creativity and ingenuity.
Plus I like the way my 73 "winks" at me for a bit before we go for a night ride.
The only reason I converted was I could not raise the headlight with the car not running. Every piece of vacuum system was brand new too. If would hold vac about about 15 minutes and that's it. But during that 15 minutes I would only be able to raise maybe one headlamp door and that wasn't all the way up. Electric, washing the car piece of cake go in and hit the over ride switch lights come up. Hit the switch again light go down. Very very nice. And I owe all my thanks to the nice people on this site for making it happen.
