I'm looking for a good place in the Plano, TX area to my get 82's windows tinted. I went to Alta Mere Plano recommended to me by a member here, but after an hour of effort, they said they couldn't do the back. So I'm back where I started, looking for a good place. Have any of you 78-82 owners had any luck? Thanks!
Good luck with that... Cutting it is the easy part. Heating it and applying it to the glass is the tough part.
Took me 3 hours to do an '80 in one piece with a high quality metallic film (read: thick). To make things worse, not many people can easily fit in the back of a non CE vette to squeegee and heat the film. I squeezed in the back while another guy heated the glass for me. Cheaper dyed films are easier to heat but are usually not color stable after a few years in the sun.
I agree with vette427, Those back windows are very difficult and time consuming to do in one piece, The tint shop will be doing it for the love or challenge not the profit.
I'm not willing to test abilities at window tinting, I can barely put a screen protector on a phone! I'd really like to get it professionally done. If anyone has any recommendations or experiences, I'm all ears! Thanks
