just saw this thread. been with Hagerty 7 yrs. Cost has doubled in those yrs. So yesterday called NCM about ins. Same coverage same agreed value $175 cheaper. I called my agent and his comment was how do u think Hagerty pays for being on BJ, Comericals, etc.
Maybe a little less advertising??
Figured they'd be in same ballpark.

I don't know; just asking. I began with Hagerty a few months ago and my first year's premium is considerably cheap - especially when compared to our D.Ds' covered by 'Brand X.' But then, my 'Vette's agreed value is only $9500.

I have five cars that I insure with Heacock. I was with Hagerty and they raised their prices. I pay a thousand less per year with Heacock! same agreed values, same coverage.

I've had my wreck of a corvette for a year now restoring it. The chassis is about done. I went with Hagerty today. They know the car is in pieces but I set a low value and it's costing me about $180 a year until I can get the car back together and on the road. For me, the piece of mind is worth it.

I hear you! I saw another thread where the home garage burned down and the C3 wasn't covered
Made me wonder if I need to call Heacock and see if I am supposed to have done anything with my home owners policy to insure against something like that or of they are covering it.

I don't think on the face of it, it matters if Hagerty is underwritten by Allstate. NCM Insurance has a major underwriter too (don't recall at the moment who it is). The key thing is if the insurance fits your needs. I don't think I've ever heard a personal bad story about Hagerty (ok, guys, don't bother writing me a whole list of bad stories), but I know a number of guys that have made claims and Hagerty took care of them w/o any major questions.
I personally went with NCM after a significant amount of shopping around. I like their drive to work exceptions, a few other flexiblilities ...and price was nice too. I haven't had a claim so I can't say how that would turn out, and that's really what matters. But I've read the entire policy front to back, word for word. There ARE still some restrictions that if you go by the letter of the policy could be somewhat restrictive depending on your needs.
Good luck..

I agree Mark. Being able to save $170 for same ins with NCM vs Hagerty was ok with me. My surprise was the agent at All State whom said they've lost about 60% of clients the past 2 yrs was frustrating. Then he make a statement that all that excessive advertising on BJ, tv ads etc. takes up about 30% of our ins. cost. I told him i had no problems with Hagerty the past 7 yrs. But my ins went from $268 yr to 500+ on my policy. on a car i drive about 500 miles a yr.
He said i understand. Left it at that.
