I am finally putting my trans back in and I just noticed there is a broken linkage rod. At first I thought it was an electrical connection because it looks like one of those eyelets only heavier. It was coated with gunk before I cleaned it so I assume it's been broken for awhile. It's on the topside of a pivot plate that bolts to the bottom of the tranny side cover with two bolts. I looked at Muncie diagrams online and don't see it on any of those. It looks like it should go forward over the top of the tranny through a guide. I'd greatly appreciate any help you can give me.

Could you be talking about the reverse interlock cable? I could email you a picture of some of the linkage and showing the cable across the top corner of the tranny.
It could very well be a cable connector. That would make sense with the thickness of the eyelet. There aren't any cables in the vicinity tho. I just bought the car a last summer and have just started putting it back together and never noticed it when disassembling. I have some pics but not sure how to post them. Your pic might be helpful
