I am working on a 69 convertible with ac. The previous owner broke both the center luster bezel and the wiper switch bezel. The question I have is that every wiper switch bezel I see has 2 vents instead of just one long one like mine. My vent is also attached to the duct where the others look like they attach to the bezel. The other thing I notice is that the bottom of my switch bezel has two holes for the mounting screws. The others I have seen on line have a cut out around one of the screws.
Can anyone me what the deal is? Is the 69 just different then a 72 on?
Can't tell you about years other than 69. My 69 original air car has 2 vents in the center below the wiper switch. Last winter I replaced the center vent louvers as my old ones were in bad shape with bad chrome. Hope this helps. If you would like photo of mine, let me know and I will get a photo tomorrow.... It is cocktail time here..
I believe 68 AC bezels had a longer single vent. One year only part. 69 through at least 71 are the same then they added lights behind the wiper switch. There should be a manufacturer date on the back of yours, if it's original GM it's most likely not original to your car.
This car was a basket case, so it would not surise me if the vent/duct is not year correct. I will just order one for a 69 and chage it over.
Thank you,
If that is a 68 part, it might be correct for your 69 depending on production date. My 69 build date was 1/15/1969 and it has some parts that were 68 as they used leftovers from 68 production on early 69's if it wasn't a major change. My 69 has the top windshield trim that the front of the top sits on without holes, so it is a 68 part as well as the top of the windshield frame. I have seen 69's with the soup can style wiper door actuator which is a 68 part. So if the 69 you are doing is real early it may be correct.
Cant see the pic but sounds like a 68 piece. as far as I know they weren't carried over although they are interchangable with a 69 with a bit of modification. Problem I think you or PO had is that the bezel breaks real easy making an intact one a rare and expensive piece. I've been looking for one since I got my 68.
