Default C3 jack color

Hi Guys, can anyone tell me if c3 jacks are black or silver? I see both colors represented as correct I guess. Any input?
Thanks

I am reasonably certain all C3 jacks were black. I've never seen a stock silver one. Where did you get your informaton about a silver color?

I've never heard of a silver one, either.

The one in my 71 is obviously not the original dated F3 and is silvery blue.
Looking on eBay under corvette jacks I find those colors.

Sorry, but eBay isn't a reliable source for correct jack color.

Right. I guess I was wondering if any of the other gm divisions used the same jack other a different color.

Hi ftf,
Interesting question.... my thought is that other Chevrolet jacks were all 'bumper' jacks in 71 since the cars still had steel bumpers.
Maybe????

Alan

Hi Nowere,
That makes sense.... the Corvair (fragile !?) bumpers were very small like the Corvette's!

Alan

What about Pontiac Buick and olds? Anyway, does anyone have a pre feb. 71 jack they would like to sale or trade for a June 73 jack?

Google the part number and see if cross references pop up.

Alan,

Your posts are confusing. You seem to have some proper letter writing format, yet break so many rules of said format. That's not very NCRS of you.

Ive been in your spot a couple times- let me offer a suggestion: sell the dated '73 jack (150-200) and then go buy the correct date jack you want.

MUCH easier.

(post your jack in the Parts For Sale section)

Good advice. I will work towards that. However there are still a lot of odd colored, correctly dated jacks that came from somewhere and mine doesn't have a production code to trace. I'm just sayin'.
Thanks All

Don't know how serious you want to take this jack hunt but don't forget that the handle needs to be correct also. ie. 71 jack handles had 3 elongated holes in the handle whereas starting in 76 they were not. This ad is incorrect for 76-82 but look at the 4th pic.

The Spring 2013 ncrs restorer magazine has a 8 page spread on jacks and handles. If you would like a copy pm me.

Hi,
Another detail to pay attention to is the shape of the handle's end at the prong used to pry off the hub cap on a car with hub caps. (If that matters to you.)
Regards,
Alan

Original (71): It has one round hole and 2 elongated holes?
