The power window conduits on my 69 are old and brittle. The windows work fine. How involved is it to replace them? Is there an easier way, not taking door panel off and removing wiring from window motor and then threading through the new conduit. Any helpful hints are appreciated.
I don't know if it's possible with the door still attached. I'm actually very surprised that someone doesn't sell a "Boot Repair Kit" where you cut out the hard/cracked/bad section of the boot, clean the ends, and then 'peel-n-stick' a pre-adhesived synthetic rubber wrap to join with the existing ends of the boot.
I had to replace the [broken] wiring in that boot, and I could not find a repair piece for the boot I had to cut. So, I just slit it back, pulled out the wires, spliced them as needed, then shoved them back in the boot and used Gorilla tape to seal it back up. I know that I'll "hear" from that boot again, sometime down the road, but what's a fella to do???
I have the conduits, will put it on the middle burner for things to do. I will not cut the wires. Thanks for the information, though not what I wanted to hear.
