The studs were ground off at the head in my tail light housings. I assume I can put a bolt in there to replace the studs. What size screw, i.e., length, diameter and thread would be the best to approximate the original stud?
Thanks Mike. Did you weld it or use a lock nut? Welding is no longer an easy option for me. I used to work in a shop with about a hundred certified TIG welders so "Govt" work was not a problem. However, since I am now retired that's not so easy.
Sounds like a little JB Weld 2-part epoxy on those carriage bolts would work just fine. (And studs that need electrical continuity should be welded or soldered in place.)
Naw.. I never made a repair kit.. I suppose I could... and very well may now that you mentioned it..
I know I responded to a thread about this a while back, but it was the same answer above. There is plenty of room in there so I always knocked the old one out.. and just spot welded a bolt in there. JB weld or a equivalent epoxy will work too and they don't show.
